Mythdora, Mythbuntu, and Knoppmyth are all pretty equally respected, with 
Mythdora having the best "it just works" reputation.

Recording clear QAM HD takes very little resource since the packet goes 
directly from cable input to hard drive unmodified.  HD playback however 
requires a fairly decent box.  If after reading my presentation you need 
further assistance or wish to discuss options let me know; I'll be glad to

You should have a look at the MythTV presentation that just happened 
on December 2, because Jerry Moody focused specifically on what 
hardware is needed...
