I just looked them up, and they're at 1648 Western Ave. opposite
Crossgates Mall. If I can, I'll check them out next time I'm in Albany.

I had to be in Albany this morning, so I dropped by Liberteks briefly.
It's at 1648 Western Ave. (which is also Rt. 20 at that point), only a
few minutes from Thruway exit 24 -- get onto Rt. 20 westbound and it's a
small building on the left, just past the cemetery. It looks like it's
less than two hours' drive from Poughkeepsie. That part of Western Ave.
(technically just west of Albany in Guilderland) seems to be mostly
small stores and larger malls.
The area for customers was considerably smaller than I expected, and
most of their parts seem to be kept in the back room, so apparently you
really can't browse through them. However, when I asked about a 3'
(36") SATA-SATA cable, the guy quoted me a price of $10 without even
having to look it up. For comparison, NewEgg wants about $6 including
shipping, cables.com wants about $6+ before shipping and tax, and
TigerDirect wants about $10 not including shipping, so $10 + tax isn't
too far out of line -- and of course you get it right away, and you can
make sure it's what you want before you leave the store. Also, it
sounds like the staff knows their stuff. Hours are 10-7 M-F and 10-6
Saturdays; check their web page for specifics.
The only thing I can compare this to is my one visit to Fry's in San
Diego in 2004, where all the merchandise was displayed, so it was easy
to compare similar items, or just look around and see what they had.
That store also had other electrical appliances, music CDs, and other
non-computer items.
I hope this is useful to some of you! I don't know of anything like
this locally, although there used to be a shop in Hark Plaza (Rt. 9 and
County Rd. 28 in Wappingers) that seemed to have a decent selection of
parts. I didn't see it the last time I looked, though.
