Thought this was list worthy, I have been using a Radeon HD 4650 ( was only
$69 @ newegg when I bought it ) for some time now on Ubuntu and Debian with
great success.
It's given me both 2d and 3d desktop effects, games, plays HD 1020p movies
and all the rest. I have no complaints

So to sum this up, AMD has come through with there pledge to open source the
necessary parts for the HD 5xxx so that our community can produce a true OSS
driver.
Do not take this as an endorsement of AMD/ATI just posting of something to
keep an eye on and good to know if building a PC.
