Thought this was list worthy, I have been using a Radeon HD 4650 ( was only $69 @ newegg when I bought it ) for some time now on Ubuntu and Debian with great success. It's given me both 2d and 3d desktop effects, games, plays HD 1020p movies and all the rest. I have no complaints
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=amd_evergreen_3d&num=1 So to sum this up, AMD has come through with there pledge to open source the necessary parts for the HD 5xxx so that our community can produce a true OSS driver. Do not take this as an endorsement of AMD/ATI just posting of something to keep an eye on and good to know if building a PC. Joe
