My backup strategy involves a script which I run manually once a day. It uses rsync to pull my /home folder onto a different drive. The second drive actually uses Git to create a commit history and gives me the ability to do diffs. Large files like vm disks and videos are parsed out by the script and excluded from the Git repo. Once a week I run an incremental tar backup on the second drive onto an external drive which I keep at my neighbors house (I wonder if he knows where to find my ssh keys?)
I also use rsync to keep the home folders of my various machines in sync, which provides even more redundancy. However, Backup PC seems awesomely comprehensive. I may be looking into that some more. -- Kris Walker Web Programmer (for fun and profit) www.fireworksproject.com [work] www.kixx.name [personal website] @kixxauth [twitter] _______________________________________________ Mid-Hudson Valley Linux Users Group http://mhvlug.org http://mhvlug.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mhvlug Upcoming Meetings (6pm - 8pm) MHVLS Auditorium Apr 6 - Introduction to IPv6 May 4 - Inkscape Jun 1 - Zimbra
