No, current information must also be on the website, including location and directions. It's really important that people have a map they can find there, especially as not everyone that comes to things is on the mailing list. Just think of your own frustration learning getting involved in other groups that do this poorly.

Community is about making information available and accurate in as many forms as possible. Yes, it is extra work, but that's part of what being a good leader is about.

Just making sure this is wanted.
But do people use the website for Lunch info or is just a reminder on
the list good enough?
We will still have a mention of the Lunch on the web site, but details
of where it is ( moving it around has been a good thing ) will be posted
to the list.
Until it can be automated that is.

I also don't think that it's exactly overburdening the list posting
it. If it is regular, it becomes an "appointment" for some people
and they plan on it if they possibly can. If you make it irregular,
people will start saying "I wish that I could come, but I already
    have plans."

There is a core in the LUG of people who are friends that

you stop making the LUG Lunch a regular thing, then the

+1, I think you nailed it on the head.
