The diaspora team, who are building an open source social network, now
have working code out there, as well as a canonical instance of it at
http://joindiaspora.com. They've done some good stuff, including easy
posting from diaspora to both facebook and twitter.
If you are interested, let me know. I think it's still an invite model.
