Well bad news, in that I was able to boot to Windows 7 and run it for 3+ hours with no issues. So it's isolated to Ubuntu64 10.11 The weird thing is that is just reboots no transmission to terminal, just an instant black screen and MB BEEP! no hesitation. Does this mean I have to install and get running LKCD to get to the bottom of this?
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/CrashdumpRecipe http://lkcd.sourceforge.net/ Why is this bad news? Was/am looking for a good excuse to build a new system, but I'm only going to do so if I need to. I think my video card may be the cause, since I updated the driver in Ubuntu a few weeks ago. Yes and I am tired of the less then stellar ATI/AMD support and complete lack of working OSS drivers. What would be the current best GPU for modern Linux desktops I want to run Gnome3 and or Unity. I also use the PC to watch HD content when the family HDTV is in use.
