Yes I can - but when I do, it just behaves exactly as a console would - it
does not act like it is imitating the GUI login or anything. Once I login
as myself on the console, I can switch to the GUI on 7 and it looks exactly
the same (black screen, cursor flashing) - and I can log in normally if I
type my pw in the blind.

I also noticed that it is - apparently TRYING to set up the GUI - the
screen appears "purple" with nothing on it just before it flashes to black.

I may take a short video of it - mostly just pt play with my phone ;-) - it
only takes 12 seconds anyway.
