I'm not saying I'd recommend it /instead/ of a case but I definitely recommend, when all else has failed, making sure that something about the case or mounting isn't causing a short. An errant mounting post can cause all manner of bizarre behavior, even without causing any permanent damage. In fact, when I worked doing warranty repair and later working for an OEM, removing the MB from the case was added to the standard troubleshooting procedures. -- /thor
