Yeah, I know that stuff too. It's a lot like what holds the moisture barrier to the door frame, and it's pretty much useless. I'd look seriously at using the adhesive transfer VHB tape. The foam stuff is nice for conforming to uneven surfaces, but it can move a little which is not what you want if you're using body filler as final finish. We used it a lot when I was doing outdoor radio stuff, and it does what it says on the tin.
