Or, as in my case, the area near work and home are not planned at all with
regards to pedestrian or bike traffic. It kills me that I only drive 2-6mi to
work, but I'll be danged if I'm going to bike on roads with no shoulders and
having to make a left turn twice a day across 4 lanes of traffic. My wife
thinks it's crazy enough at times that I have such a small car, and I'd rather
not worry her (or myself) any more than that.
