Yes, the original Panasonic AGM batteries have a freakishly long life.
Mine lasted around 14 years before the 11:1 engine took it out. You're
taking care of it as well which helps.

        I have the original battery in my 1996 Miata. 197K miles. Car is
stored in the winter in non-heated storage(Northern Ohio). I disconnect
the battery when put into storage.
         
        Every year when I get the car out of storage, I assume the
battery will have given up the ghost. But it always starts up after a
few cranks and performs great until next storage season.
         
        I've never had a auto battery last much past it's rated life(for
example 60 months). Is this a fluke, or is this normal for the factory
Miata battery?
         
        I'm sure it will die now that I have written this e-mail  :-(
