I don't have all the fabricating capabilities I'd like to have, but I can probably do that Larry. I'm sure we'll come up with something.

Gentlemen,

BC has a pretty good memory. I did have a vintage FMII (before it was
called that, I think). I did have a griddle heat shield, which I took
off after the mounts broke several times.

However, since then, I have upgraded to a tubular manifold and a T3/T4E
setup. I haven't had a problem in the 3 years it has been on - without
a heat shield.

Towing up a long grade (in low boost) generated enough heat to melt
things.

So BB, you don't have to worry that your design failed. I never had
your heat shield.

I would be interesting to see if it would fit. The design of the setup
is nearly a one of, however. I can send some photos to Bill Bowser to
see if he thinks it would fit. Otherwise, I'll have to fab something up
myself with whatever junk I can find in the garage.

Regards,
Bruce

Hi Bill,

I just got back from Michigan and saw this thread. I e-mailed Bruce to
see if he had a heat shield because I was concerned that my design had
failed to perform as expected. I'll be interested in his response.

Regards,
Bill

IIRC, Bruce has a fairly vintage FMII, back in the days of the waffle
griddle heat shield for the turbo. Updating to the current heat shield
made by Bill Bowser would prevent the problem from happening again.

Is the reservoir available as a separate part? I've seen rebuilds
that come without the bottle - I just need the bottle.

You don't say what year it is, but mazdacomp shows the bottle (plus
innards, cap, level sensor and mounting rubber things) available
seperately from the hydraulic bits for a 99.
