All M-Edition cars came with a Torsen.  They were basically the highest package
for each model year with some extras (like special paint, special wheels, shift
knobs, gauges, and embroidery) thrown in for good measure.

 I have a 94
 Miata M
series with 120K on the odometer. This car is in very good condition. I
got it this summer and have driven it a lot. I t had the lifter clatter on
cold start up and I have stopped this with Mobile
1 0w30w synthetic. I have changed the trans and
     diff to Mobile
1 synthetic also. The plugs and wires were changed to NGK approximately 5K
ago.  Just within the last 1K it developed an loping idle this does
not happen all the time, and there does not seem to be a pattern. The last
time it occurred I looked under the hood and thought I could here a spark
jump. However, I could not find one and it has not done it since that
time.   Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also I have a question about
the differential.. I lifted the car and turned one wheel and the other
turned in the opposite direction. This would indicate an open
differential. However, when I turn tight, left or right, and punch it on
gravel both rear tires spin. Also if I have one tire on gravel and one on
asphalt
they both grab or spin. To me this would indicate a LSD. Any advise?
