Absolutely. The county hospitals regularly receive patients without
coverage who have been stabilized at other hospitals and then
transported, at taxpayer expense, to the county hospital where the
taxpayer funded "unfunded care" account pays for their care.
I am glad people are starting to see how the "public option" could
lead to less money out of their pockets. ER procedure charges are
insanely expensive.
Would you the taxpayer rather spend $600+ to deal with someone's sore
throat in the ER, or see that person cost you $100 worth of a clinic's
services while not being in front of you in the ER after you've gotten
a concussion bouncing your head off your roll bar [<-- MIATA CONTENT]
in a rear end collision (yes, your nearest trauma center is likely a
county hospital).
Just my first hand experience over the past 14 years.

Yes, it is according to a doctor friend. They can't turn you away
for SERIOUS care. A car wreck would qualify.
They don't have to treat you long term and give you multiple MRIs,
etc. etc.
Camp out near one of the county hospitals and see who gets regular
care and you will be amazed at how much care they get and how
often. Course they may have to wait in the hospital all day. Now
we're going to have to get into the illegals issue because they make
up a large portion of this free care.
So now we've just opened another non car can of worms.

No, that is NOT the law. To get medical care when you can't pay
for it you'd better be brought in by an ambulance after having been
in an automobile accident. If you walk in with no money, you'll be
directed back out the door.
