I get people's attention by using my 6 Hella horns on my Subaru, or by using my
cop PA on one of my Miatas, the other Miata has 2 Hellas AND loud exhaust :)

My Honda dual-sport and gold wing are both very quiet though I am looking for a
place to wedge a cop PA on the 'wing.

Thing is, not all people swap out to loud exhausts, so loud ones will
always stand out. I'll take every little additional safety margin when
the driver next to me decides they want my lane. But it's true, the
main reason I bought my performance Ducati exhaust was to better hear
that wonderful Ducati V-Twin sound. I also prefer to blip to throttle
to prod people's attention at a just turned green light vs. hitting
the bleep bleep horn.

People used to say that daytime running lights wouldn't be any safer
when all cars have them. I disagree. Anything that makes you stand out
more is gonna help.
