Can you run a car without the crank pulley? 9 hours later, still leaks.. fun fun. Ran the car up to temp while engine still hanging from the hoist, glad we did it. Oil appears at the front lower, center and one corner of the crank valley. Can't tell if it's the pan or the main, motor was professionally rebuilt by a reputable shop ~8k miles ago so would be curious if it was the main but you never know. So, can the car be safely idled without the crank pulley installed (leaving the timing gear and key in place and the bolt on the crank to keep the gear from sliding off)? Trying to see where the oil originates from while idling, main or pan.. and don't want to redo the pan if we can avoid that bundle of joy. Also, when calling a "front main seal", are we actually talking about the "front oil seal", located in the front of the oil pump, part # 10-602A / B3C7-10-602A ? I assume so, but want to make sure I'm bitching about the right part. :) Did a search and that appears correct but want to verify. Thanks.
