What Fred has written, below, makes a lot of sense. Oil/Engine Forensics, if you will. Of course, Bill at FM sees lots of engines in various states of wear and probably offers the most knowledgeable advice. ____________________________________ From: [email protected] To: [email protected] CC: [email protected] Sent: 3/29/2010 10:46:31 A.M. Stephen, If you haven't drained the oil yet, or at least haven't yet disposed of it, send in a sample for oil analysis. Then you will know for certain what types of bearing or other wear materials ended up in the oil. Anything else is speculation. If I were you I'd Google 'engine oil analysis' and call a few to see who could turn it around for you quickly so you'll have an answer as soon as possible. That said, the typical pattern is for low oil to cause upper end wear; and for no oil to cause crank bearing failure. Fred
