1990 – In the early morning hours, a helicopter carrying Stevie Ray
Vaughan, Eric Clapton’s agent Bobby Brooks, Clapton bodyguard Nigel
Browne, Clapton tour manager Colin Smythe, and pilot Jeff Brown,
crashes into the side of a ski slope on takeoff, killing everyone on
board.
1992 – John Lennon's original hand-written lyrics for "A Day In The
Life" fetches $87,000 at Sotheby's auction.
2003 – P. Diddy is sued for $5million by Stephanie Grieso, claiming
she was assaulted by a bouncer outside his New York restaurant,
Justin’s. Grieso alleges she was arguing outside the restaurant when
the bouncer grabbed her by the neck and pushed her down on the
pavement, causing leg injuries.
2003 – Janis Ian marries her girlfriend, Nashville defense lawyer
Patricia Snyder, in Toronto, Canada, where gay marriages are legal.
2004 – The Carling Leeds Festival takes place, featuring Green Day,
The White Stripes, Morrissey, The Offspring and many others. Rapper 50
Cent and his G-Unit also appear and are pelted with bottles and booed
off the stage without playing a note.
2007 – Mark Lindsay of Paul Revere and The Raiders opens Mark
Lindsay's Rock And Roll Cafe in his hometown of Portland, Oregon. It’s
open less than a year.
2008 – MacKenzie Phillips is arrested at Los Angeles International
Airport for possession of heroin and cocaine.
