1940 – Artie Shaw records “Stardust” in L.A.
1940 – Bill Monroe and The Blue Grass Boys record “Mule Skinner Blues”
and “No Letter In The Mail” in Atlanta.
1950 – The Frank Sinatra Show debuts on CBS-TV. Slated to run for five
years, the show lasts 36 weeks.
1952 – After a month on air showing short music films, the re-vamped
and more familiar dance-oriented Bandstand debuts on WFIL-TV in
Philadelphia, with host Bob Horn.
1957 – RCA Victor announces they have already received 500,000 advance
orders for Elvis’ Christmas Album.
1960 – Elvis Presley records “Flaming Star” at Radio Recorders in
Hollywood for the movie soundtrack.
1961 – The Platters, Del Shannon, The Drifters, Brook Benton, Gary
U.S. Bonds, Dee Clark, The Cleftones, and Curtis Lee all perform at

2000 – KISS drummer Peter Criss destroys his drums on stage in a fit
