1964 – Sam Cooke begins his legendary two week engagement at the Copacabana 
in New York City.

1964 – The Rolling Stones record their first version of "Time Is On My 
Side" with an organ intro.

1964 – The Beatles play two shows at the Town Hall in Auckland, New 
Zealand. The shows are almost cancelled when the chief of police refuses to 
supply security for the group, and only three officers are dispatched to 
control the concerts.

1965 – Len Barry records "1, 2, 3" at Bell Sound Studios in New York City.

1965 – John Lennon's second book, A Spaniard In The Works, is published.

1966 – The Mothers of Invention open for Lenny Bruce at Fillmore West.

1966 – The Rolling Stones begin their Aftermath Tour - their fifth tour of

concerts at the venue for two decades.

1966 – The Beatles begin their tour of West Germany, Japan and the 
Philippines with two shows at the Circus-Krone-Bau in Munich, Germany. The 
second show is filmed by German television network Zweites Deutsches 
Fernsehen (ZDF).

1977 – On the way back to his hotel following his concert in Madison, 
Wisconsin, Elvis Presley spots two teenagers beating up a gas station 
attendant. Presley has his driver stop the limo and jumps out, striking a 
karate pose and yelling, "I'll take you on!" Seeing who their intruder is, 
the three fighters stop fighting, the station attendant runs back to his 
office, and the two teenagers apologize to Elvis.

1977 – Gregg Allman hosts The Midnight Special, with guests Booker T and 
The MGs, Elvin Bishop, Bad Company, Jerry Lee Lewis and Jennifer Warnes.
