1955 – New York City radio station WINS institutes a policy of playing 
original versions of R&B singles rather than cover versions by white 
artists.

1957 – Jerry Lee Lewis plays live on American Bandstand. Jimmy Bowen is 
also on the show. 

1957 – Pat Boone appears on the cover of Newsweek with the byline, "His

Theatre Ballroom in Guernsey.
