New York City for Decca Records.

1945 – Frank Sinatra records “Nancy (With The Laughing Face)” in Hollywood 
for Columbia Records.

1947 – Nat “King” Cole records “Nature Boy” at Radio Recorders in Hollywood.

1948 – The Nat “King” Cole Trio records “(I Love You) For Sentimental

1956 – Elvis Presley begins filming his first movie, Love Me Tender. The 
film was originally to be called The Reno Brothers, but was changed to Love 
Me Tender when Presley landed the role to capitalize on his popularity.

1956 – The rock ‘n roll movie The Girl Can’t Help It premieres in Hollywood.

1957 – The Ames Brothers record "Melodie D'Amour (Melody Of Love)" at RCA 
Studios in New York City.

1960 – Elvis Presley releases his single, “It’s Now Or Never” b/w “Make Me 
Know It” in the UK, after copyright issues for the song “O Sole Mio” held

1962 – During a lunchtime session at the Cavern Club, Granada TV films The 
Beatles performing “Some Other Guy” for the program Know The North.

1963 – EMI announces a half-million advance orders in Britain for The 
Beatles' upcoming single, "She Loves You."

1964 – Martha and The Vandellas’ “Dancing In The Street” debuts on 
Billboard’s Hot 100.

1964 – The Beatles perform at Empire Stadium in Vancouver, Canada, on their 
first North American tour.

1964 – Liberty Records reports their album, TheChipmunks Sing The Beatles, 
is selling 25,000 copies a day.

1965 – 200 screaming Rolling Stones fans break through security barriers at 
Granada Television studios to see the group, causing security guards to 
turn fire hoses on them.

1965 – In the early morning hours, Paul McCartney is caught with several 
under age girls in his room at The Leamington Hotel in Minneapolis. Police 
urge The Beatles and their entourage to get out of town and never return. 
As the group flies to Portland, Oregon, one of the plane’s engines catches 
fire. They land safely, and perform two shows at Memorial Coliseum. Beach 
Boys Carl Wilson and Mike Love visit the group backstage between shows.

1966 – The Beatles take part in a Junior Press Conference with 75 of their 
teenage fans in New York, hosted by radio station WMCA.

1967 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience appears on the BBC’s Simon Dee Show.

1967 – The Beatles record “Your Mother Should Know” at Chappell Recording 
Studios in London.

1968 – Cynthia Lennon files for divorce from John.

1968 – Ringo Starr walks out of Abbey Road Studios and quits The Beatles.

permission.
