And TODAY in career suicide: *Texans release Ed Reed, possibly ending his Hall of Fame career* Published 5 hours and 43 minutes ago Last updated 4 hours and 17 minutes ago David Steele Sporting News
Ed Reed’s Hall of Fame career may be over—not after basking in the glow of the Super Bowl he had craved, but after a half-season of injury, losses, a benching and criticism of his coach. The Houston Texans released Reed on Tuesday, two days after losing their seventh straight game and, after the loss, he told reporters the team was “outplayed and outcoached’’ in Arizona, a shot seemingly aimed at defensive coordinator and interim head coach Wade Phillips. Unfortunately for Reed, it was also more than six months after undergoing offseason hip surgery—and nine months after the team with whom he had spent the previous 11 years of his career, won the Super Bowl in New Orleans. With all of that on his resume for 2013—and being 35 and having lost his starting job two games ago—Reed may have played his last game. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Diamond Headz" group.
