my dad's a great & innovative drummer. several different drum lines from different bands played music my father had written from one decade or another up 'till one written a few months ago for a particularly talented father & young son duet. he was much maligned in the mid '60s for writing less traditional pieces & arrangements. i remember hearing some of the comments. but he was listening to bebop jazz & pop & used some of those rhythms. it's really silly, but some people can get SO upset about art. now they're giving him awards,plaques & medals. it was fun (tho i'd also done this a few times before) talking to the scottish drummers. we play in a more "open" sticking style, as do the swiss. they play in a more "closed" buzz-roll style. which is fascinating to watch & talk about since it's not what i'm most used to playing. if any of the pipe bands that you know people in have anything on you tube, send me a link here or on fb.
