Would that be why none of the other apps (vlc, mplayer, etc.) would deal with the stream? When I did the screen cap from within xawtv and it was a bad (but better) image than the video was portraying. When I close xawtv it sortof freezes the video as its closing and that image seems more like the screen capture xawtv provides.
Do you have any suggestions? I'm planning on usb sniffing on windows and linux to see if the drivers set up the chips different (as suggested by Dave).
