I think I'd attend IRC "meetups" if there was a particular topic planned to be discussed that was of interest or I'd learn from. However, now that the channel has been brought to my attention, I will probably start using it as a matter of course, just to stay more in the loop (I have no idea how active it is, but I think if it is active, and lots of interesting/thought-provoking topics on MF come up, it would be nice/fair/useful to keep logs and publish them, even if the not-so relevant areas are edited out).
This is OT, vaguely, but are any Microformateers attending the WSG meetup on Friday (London)? You know.. tactile, real life. ;) Frances FRANCES BERRIMAN http://www.fberriman.com -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Scott Reynen Sent: 10 July 2006 03:51 To: Microformats Discuss Subject: Re: [uf-discuss] IRC Meetups? To that end, I have two ideas: 1) Make the IRC transcripts subscribe-able. I've done that here: http://microformat.makedatamakesense.com/log_feed/ That should at the end of each day with only the non-bot messages from the IRC transcript, for quick skimming. 2) Make the IRC room more visible on the /discuss page by moving it up higher on the page. The discussion list, the IRC room, and the blog are all suitable for the same broad audience, and might work better grouped together at the top of the page with the more technical lists below. I also mentioned on IRC that I think many of the people who should be involved in these discussions have never used IRC, and Brian suggested we make a page listing IRC clients for people new to IRC, which I think is a good idea.
