I thought you might have the answer to the problem I am having with
our French contact pages. Our English contact page
(http://www.mndm.gov.on.ca/mines/lands/pro/contact_e.asp) works fine
but the French contact page
(http://www.mndm.gov.on.ca/mines/lands/pro/contact_f.asp) misses the
phone number because "work" is not a French word and therefore I can't
use it but must use the French equivalent instead.
I have tried both the abbr-pattern as well as the value-class-pattern
and neither insert the phone number into a downloaded vCard.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Internationalisation is certainly an incorrect usage of the
abbreviation pattern and should be avoided (the English title will be
exposed to your French readers).
The value-class-pattern is the correct way to mark-up this content,
but, because it is very new, parsers are still implementing support
for it. That's why you probably don't see it in downloaded vcards yet.
This will improve over the next few months.
Which parser are you using to do the conversion to vcard?
