Greetings Hydro folks,
My name is Scott Suddreth and I'm in Boone, North Carolina in USA. I have a
transmission issue that I would like to put out on the table. I am a Renewable
Energy consultant who currently has some hydro clients. One client has the
following situation. 23 feet of drop (head) and 150 gpm of flow. The fellows
existing renewable energy system is at 24VDC. I have looked at the Harris
Permanent Magnet unit and the Canadian Stream Engine. Both units can supposedly
generate around 300 watts continuously at this site. However the distance to
the home is 560 feet which means a HUGE wire size for a 24VDC system. Don
Harris suggested that I look into the HydroMax controller as he had heard that
it might be able to make our situation more affordable. I also looked at a 3
phase system but thought that the low head made it undesirable. What do you
folks recommend?
Solar Scott
