Nothing new to this, they call it PAT's - Pump as Turbines. Only the marketing strategy maybe.
But one thing is on the electric side of the matter (if it is intended for electrical generation) It is the control of the electric output that needs the better looking into: To come up with somthing that can be handled by farmers and simple people like me not well versed on things such as 60 cyles per second, 230 volts, battery charging rate, ballast loads, load governing, etc. To look into an inexpensive control, governing gadget. This is so the farmer can use TV, Radio, Refrigerators, low watt white lights, and others he wish to use. These appliances are easily well within the reach of the farmer and he would want to power it from the project. Then there's the structures: canals, pipes, pentocks, power house, etc. The farmer would need money to invest for these structures to realize the project. Yes, it can be installed in existing irrigation canals, but still money needed. (Another thing to look into: To look for/into banks that would support this kind of project, bank roll it, then collect from the farmer on a delayed manner for a long time. Or only the rich farmers will avail of it. Another: Grants or donations?) greetings from the Philippines.
