H Roy,

We have been monitoring the OS X migration/upgrade situations since at
least November and have taken numerous steps to mitigate this issue for our
customers. All CSS IT staff are actively communicating to customers as they
locate outdated machines.

We have limited insight to computers unless they are on BigFix/TEM.
However, from the 700+ computers identified in December 2015 as having an
outdated Mac OS, we have reduced that number to less than 400 today. We
know we will not hit 0 by the April 1 date even with the computers we have
enterprise management on but we are doing everything we can with the
limited time and resources to get there sooner rather than later. We have
also been actively working with IST-EEI and ISP to create solutions to help
facilitate the migration.

Short of having an enterprise system or other methodology for locating all
computers on this campus and installing the self-service button, our
alternative to discovering all of these computers is unfortunately tedious
and time consuming. We will continue our efforts to help the campus manage
this risk.

We plan on working with campus partners to improve the methods and
technologies to facilitate large scale migrations. The customer computer is
a frequent gateway to more and more security attacks. It's up to all of us
to stay vigilant and to help our customers understand how they can help
protect our computing environment.

Regards,
Michelle
