JOB DESCRIPTION
Software Engineer position responsible for design, development and maintenance of tools and utilities for Pervasive products. Position requires experience with user interface usability, GUI and middleware development. Successful candidate will participate in and contribute to design and code reviews, implement code from designs, assist with identifying and reviewing test requirements, debug and solve internal and customer-reported issues.
REQUIRED
At least 5 years experience with UI software development and design.
At least 3 years strong Java programming skills
Experience with graphics design tools and UI design tools such as Visio, wire frames, etc.
Experience with one or more of the following:
Eclipse IDE
Swing
SWT
Visual Basic
MFC.
Experience developing or extending custom widgets (e.g. advanced grid or tree controls).
Experience with development within a well-defined software process
Working knowledge of Windows and UNIX
platforms
Excellent problem solving skills and ability to perform assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated ability to plan and execute tasks to meet tight deadlines.
Must have shipped at least 2 commercial products through multiple releases
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
DESIRABLE
1. Multi-platform development (Windows, UNIX flavors Linux, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX) desirable
2. C/C++ programming
3. Some experience in multi-platform development
4. Familiar with transactional, navigation and relational database concepts
5. Familiar with data and application integration concepts
6. Familiar with application server
