Quality Engineering Manager
 
 
Job Description:
As a Quality Engineering Manager, you will direct a team of highly motivated quality engineers in the delivery of high quality products to our customers. You will manage the testing and automation activities throughout the software development life cycle, from design through product release. You will foster a strong and effective team atmosphere in your staff. Utilizing your knowledge of testing methodologies, processes, and technologies, you will improve the quality of the next releases of our product.
 
Responsibilities include:
·        Manage a team of Quality engineers and coordinate with other engineering managers to deliver high-quality product releases on schedule.
·        Organize test processes to streamline multiple site global product testing to optimize time and to ensure high quality.
·        Build a team that is focused and excited about the quality of the product, that understands and supports the goals and plans, and that fosters a spirit of cooperation among its members.
·        Define test plans, quality resource allocations, and detailed testing schedules for product release and automation projects.
·        Monitor the testing tasks and milestones and ensure product quality release objectives are achieved.
·        Hire, Motivate, and Mentor members of the staff to make them full contributors and to continue to build their skills. Conduct performance reviews and staff professional career development.
 
Required Experience:
  • 8+ years of quality experience. Minimum of two years in a Quality Assurance management role and at least 6 additional years direct testing experience in a software product organization.
  • Must have tested and shipped at least four commercial software products releases and have experience testing enterprise-class software products.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance standards, best practices, testing methodologies, and processes.
  • Direct experience working on test plans, test case designs, and test automation specifications.
  • Management experience with defining test coverage, defect reporting, and quality trend analysis.
  • Previous hands on experience with test automation design and implementations.
  • Direct management experience of test automation projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of QA tools such as defect tracking, test case repositories, testing monitoring, and test automation systems.
  • Multiple platform knowledge including Win32, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux, AS/400, zOS.
  • Commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Proven ability to direct the activities of others in planning, organizing, scheduling, monitoring and evaluating and to manage multiple tasks across multiple problem domains and contexts.
  • Results oriented with proven planning and project management skills – experience using project scheduling and management tools to manage large complex projects to completion on schedule.
  • Excellent recruiting, motivating, mentoring skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.  Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Some travel may be required.
 
Preferred Experience & Education:
  • Knowledge in data integration domain, ETL, EAI, database, and data management infrastructure.
  • Experience with industry testing tools for functional, load, stress, and performance test automation (Rational Test, Silk, etc.)
  • Understanding of technology/programming paradigms such as Java, XML, C/C++, VB, SQL, PERL, J2EE, and .NET.
  • Global multiple site product development experience.
