Yes, currently the main Midgard branch supports only
the iso-latin1 character set, but this can be easily
changed to some other charset. For example, the Russian
Midgard announced some time ago contains good examples
on how to do this.

It should work as long as you change the character set
individually for each server and then compile your Midgard
with those modifications there.

I guess the character set the be used with Midgard will
become a configure option in future versions, though. Jukka
has said that he'll try to roll the modifications of the
Russian Midgard back in to the main Midgard branch.

The character set problem is mostly related to how Midgard
handles content (articles, text parsing, etc)

That should be correct. You'll probably want to wait
for a confirmation from someone who has actually used
Midgard with a different character set, though.
