So far our focus has been on supporting Unix systems.
There are some issues with Midgard not being thread-safe
that make it currently impossible to use on Windows
platform. Also, the 1.x series of Midgard are dependent
on MySQL, which is not free to use on Windows (IIRC).

As Sean Champ already pointed out, it might be possible
to get Midgard running by using the CygWin utilities. It
hasn't been tried yet, though, so I cannot say for sure.
If someone has experience with this, it would be nice to
hear about it!

Daniel Reichenbach from the OpenSA project
(http://www.opensa.de) has expressed interest in porting
Midgard to Windows, and it seems that he is doing the work
based on the ODBC-enabled 'Broken Shinai' development
release. I'm not sure of what is the status of the port,
though.

But whatever is the current situation, I think there
has been enough interest in a win32 version of Midgard
and that we will certainly see it in the future. Before
that, I'd advice trying out some free Unix for running
your Midgard server on. Linux or FreeBSD could be a
good option on Intel hardware.
