I'm brand new to sql, and programming in general for that matter ;) I'd be
willing to give whatever help I could (learning experiences are good), but
all I've got are mySQL and miniSQL (the latter of which is free, though it
looks like there's 4 different ports going for it, one specificaly for NT.
http://blnet.com/msqlpc/lozano/statuswin.htm for info on those. I stopped
using minisql because i got messages that i was using outdated syntax when i
was using examples from online tutorials specifically for minisql). Have
apache, too, of course ;)
I'm guessing that ms sql has a price. If it doesn't, I'll download and
install what i'd need to use it, if mySQL won't be enough. Or is it one of
things that can already be used, without a download? (eg. "windows
scripting host", however one might learn to use that)
Regarding the documentation, I'd be willing to help there. Just tell me
where to download whatever it is that I need to install, and I'll start at
it. if communication needs to go on that might clutter the mailing list, i
can also be reached at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Regarding the documentation, for the windows port it might be good if it was
compiled into .chm files. There's a link below for the .chm compiler, but I
might be able to take care of compiling it myself, given the source docs.
I'd be willing to help on the writing of it too.
For some examples of .chm files:
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Keep/8280/
or http://srana.virtualave.net/fat32.zip for a direct-download of one.
for the helpfile compiler:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/workshop/author/htmlhelp/download.asp
(chm files do require some type of update, but it looks like they packaged
the update file with the compiler)
Also, I've got slackware's us-msdos linux, and pieces of redhat, sitting
on-disk. I'm stuck with the winmodem that Gateway put in the box, so i
haven't gone through installing either of them yet, but could and would do
so, if it would help with the docs-devising.
