I thought of that, then thought <warning -- personal opinion ahead> of
all the obnoxious problems frames bring and decided they can't be
a solution. [0]

Anyhow, what you say is true. DHTML + Layers can bring the same
functionality, BTW, but it'll require decent javascript support
from the browser.
