Yes, there will be native database connection support for
at least MySQL, possibly Oracle as well (by porting the
1.2.x Oracle interface over to Midgard 2).

Language support in Midgard 2 is quite different from how
it is handled in Midgard 1. In Midgard 2, everything
related to functions and handling of Midgard connectivity
is in midgard-lib (a C library), and then bindings to
that are done when support for other languages is needed.

The initial PHP bindings Jukka is working on are using
PHP4, but supporting also PHP3 should be possible if
someone wants to work on it.

We've also been discussing providing bindings for Python 
and Perl.

directory of our CVS repository.
