I wanted to add to the calendar issue, though it may be a little off the
given course.
One of the orginal site designers for tacomacitypaper.com was paid to finish
an events calendar database for the site. He has since moved on to another
company and is struggling to finish this app. This dbase is being written
in PHP/MySQL. The features of this app would allow an editor to enter
calendar events by category via admin page in her browser. Once entered a
visitor to the site could click on a date on a small calendar & view all
events for that day, also the reader could browse events by category.
The cool feature is that on the admin page it would have a list feature that
would show all the current events in a list format that could be cut &
pasted into Word for import into Quark Xpress.
This application is about 95% done and has a few bugs to work out.
If I can get the developer to agree to my idea, what are the procedures to
releasing the code to the open-source community? How interested would the
community be interested in something like this & how likely will it be that
someone will take this app under his/hers wing to complete?
Thanks,
Corbin M. Harris
