I worked on a solution but couldn't get it to work yet.
It's in midgard-lib, in the function mgd_auth(...), I put it inside #if 0
/ #endif block, so if someone wants to work on it, you're welcome.
My idea was to store the username/password pair the first time the
function is called, and restore it when the "="/"" pair was passed to the
function.
