I'll second the source install guide. RPM's are generally pretty easy:
rpm -i package, whereas a source install can be pretty involved. Plus a
source install gives a person more control over what is configured and where
it is installed. My (limited) experience anyway.
I worked from the installation guide done by Eddie Azman and posted on the
Midgard site. I needed some minor changes from what he did, but it worked
out smoother than my own attempts. Maybe that document could be a starting
point?
