In fact, OS based discussions are unavoidable. Consequently a strategy to
serve everyone's interest leads to source. Patrick, one of the Aurora
developers, is writing a script to automate the configure, make and make
install from *tar.gz. Place the packages in /usr/local/src/beta4 ...
I believe Alexander has some installation scripts that Patrick is going to
need. Alexander, are these available? If yes, please send me an e-mail
telling where I can find them. You could put them on momma if that's
convienant for you.
If we get Patrick's scripts to work today, then this will be the first
installation section that we write. Any feedback?

These platform specific instructions will be dealt with. The MySQL GPL
news is obviously important and we'll deal with this challange. There was
talk of an intellegent rpm based install script which can detect the
different Linux distributions.
Emile, I'm unclear about building rpm from CVS. You commented on this
yesterady by saying you were going to load some scripts into the CVS.
Please assume I know absolutely nothing and provide details like
/cvs/script/name. Because we're going to write the first guide for source
this isn't an immediate concern.
I'll have about four hours to work on this today. Unfortunately,
it'll be in sporadic There's to many other unresolved issues that have to
be dealt with; living arrangments etc.
Upon getting Patrick's script to work on his machine, we'll post the code.
