They're private by design (although ISTR there being settings to
publish them on a case-by-case basis -- must check). Anyhow, you can
attach parameters to person records just like to any other record. The
preferences are in available for person records in addition to the
more general parameters.

Well, as you demonstrated, this works. I would have used parameters
here too, though.
