Actually, I think that for this sort of thing Vmware is better than 
freevsd, because it allows you to start from a know state time after time 
again. FreeVSD is great if you want to give shell access, or even root 
access without giving up a dedicated machine. FreeVSD is free however, 
Vmware is not. On my 'must-do' list is usermode-linux, which is like 
Vmware, but only allows linux within linux. GPL'd.
