Two news items crossed my screen today,

Aviation Week reports that "Honeywell Closes in on Certificate for Onboard
Runway Incursion Alerts."

Today's Wall Street Journal reports that Southwest decided to outfit its
entire fleet with this system in early 2024. This article implies that much
of its fleet is now equipped. But how can this be the case if it is only now
getting certified?

BTW, an ATC colleague now in Australia (Mike Gahan) emailed me this morning
recalling having been at a demonstration in Syracuse (Hancock Airport) 20
years ago where the prototype was demonstrated, and he still has videos of
pilots asking "When can we have this?"

I'd appreciate any answer to the difference between what Av Week and WSJ
report. Also, any speculation or otherwise about what took the FAA so long?
