It appears that several pilots at AA have been "removed from their schedules"
because of social media posts. As far as I know that's not the same as being
fired...yet. Back in the 90s a couple of pilots thought it would be fun to
comment on politics during routine PAs inflight. Bad idea.

I don't have any social media so I can't go looking for these postings, and
they're probably deleted now anyway. Here's the email from AA:

"In the wake of this week’s events in Utah, some of our pilots’ social media
posts have generated controversy and attracted unwelcome attention from elected
leaders in Washington, D.C., the traveling public, and management, which took
immediate steps in certain egregious instances to remove those responsible from
their schedules. To be clear, the Allied Pilots Association does not in any way
condone or support these highly objectionable posts.

When posting to social media, it is imperative to exercise discretion and to
keep in mind that whatever the forum, there is no such thing as a private post.
While there will always be a variety of opinions among us about the news of the
day, sometimes the prudent course is to keep those opinions to ourselves.

As commercial airline pilots, we are highly trained, highly skilled
professionals with a tremendous level of responsibility. We need to be sure to
always hold ourselves to a consistently high standard, regardless of whether
we’re at work or on our days off."
