I would only add that I recently observed that the Mifnet occasionally suffered from a liberal political bias that detracted from its mission as a professional aviation organization. It seems that the recent post(s) that led to David's suggestion appear to validate this unfortunate tendency and have no proper place in the role of this organization. As Mike has so aptly observed, we are now in NNN territory. For those who are new to the list, we implemented “NNN” some years ago as a tag that would identify posts/threads that lack much aviation-related content. I suggested “NNN” as this was the telegraphic code that could mean several things but often advised a receiving operator to ignore a message. At one time there was a software routine in the Mifnet system that would inhibit sending “NNN” message to list members who elected to ignore them. This process was more cumbersome technologically than it sounds. Alas, that was several versions of Mifnet past. I’d revive that process if I could think of a way to do so. May I kindly suggest that this thread has run its productive course, and that it’s time to move on? Brings to mind some polarizing dialogues that led to NNN. Chased a few folks away if memory serves. I just watched those fights because they became shouting matches and I was having one of my own with a couple fellow engineers who were instrumental in my career development. It was very painful. I have to step up. So for the record: * Firing Kimmel (not a suspension, he's gone), has sent a chill through the media & the autocrats continue to win. * Trump is a full-blown autocrat & wrecking ball. * Mid-terms may be our last hope, considering how much long-term damage he's already done in just a few months. * If the mid-terms help slow things down our legal system MIGHT have a chance to help. * If (if) we can make things right it will take 20-30 years to recover internally and God knows how long to restore our international reputation. * It's really curious that his 1500 pardoned, violent criminals have been very very quiet. Can Trump just snap his fingers & activate his private militia? * With or without a militia, will the threats & killings accelerate? * I am NOT Chicken Little and I am very nervous. * And yes I have participated in peaceful demonstrations & helped to fund the ACLU & SPLC. If I see people in masks making arrests aka kidnapping, I will speak up in real time. That's all I have to say, I will not debate. Trump says that Democrats (and any opposition) are “scum” and “evil.” Pam Bondi has no idea what the First Amendment really requires. In the presence (and real threat) of an autocrat, there can be no “balanced approach.” We are in a Constitutional crisis and balance does not work. Kimmel was just exercising his right of free speech. You don’t have to agree with him but it is VERY wrong to take him off the air. Just say you don’t agree, which is your First Amendment right.
