Our pals at The Pentagon released another batch of documents relating to UFO sightings, which of course was followed by yet another round of conjectures as to whence these objects come. Myself, I’ve no idea what is behind the sighting of objects that are generally called UFOs. I do, however, know what UFOs are not—visitors from other planets.

Earth has never encountered such visitors and never will. Never. This is because such contacts are impossible.

To accept the premise that UFOs originate with distant alien civilizations, we would have to also accept that space, matter, and time —indeed reality itself—will behave in ways that we know they do not.

Without again covering details I've shared before, I'll just point out what proponents of distant space travel misunderstand.

Nothing can travel faster than light. We know this is so because we can model the progressive energy required for any massive object to reach the speed of light, and we observe that to do so would require infinite energy.

We also know that the speed of light is constant for all observers. For this to be true, space and time must be changeable, but the speed at which one can travel through space remains limited. There is no escaping this fact.

Even if it were possible to travel at, or near, the speed of light, which it is not, as a practical matter making a meaningful round trip remains impossible, as time dilation (which can be demonstrated) makes it impossible to ever return to one’s point of origin again, within the same time reference.

The speed of light defines an absolute speed limit; time and space are changable and these do not favor space travel.

Under what we might grant to be a conceivably achievable speed of travel (yet one that has never been reached), a round trip to the stars nearest earth (assuming a reason to go there) would take perhaps 1,000 years.

The universe simply does not allow practical distant space travel.
