Yes I agree.  I have had my share of JDK upgrade issues in the past.  I will
drop one of my Linux servers down to 1.5 and see if this helps.

i'm also developing on Fedora 7 64bit exclusively and i'm having no
problems.

some of these issues could be attributed to differences in JDK as well.  you
can use jdk1.6, but all tests must pass under jdk1.5 .  most of the
development work that i know of is done using jdk1.5 so it's possible that
you're uncovering issues related to jdk1.6.

According to some comments in the build file, it seems that some people have
already tried to test it on 64bit (more memory needed).
I can run that on a 32 bit linux OS if that does not make sense to
build/test/run Mifos on a 64 bit machine.

Has anyone else ever tried compiling Mifos and/or running the full 
test suite on a 64-bit architecture machine? Only this aspect of your
development environment sounds unique, IMHO.
