Kojo, this was a spike and no code was committed.
With regards impact on tests, we were just noting that when doing this type of
work it was the integration tests failing that caused biggest hassle.
(typically this is becuase somewhere in the test, it was using the 'dao' that
was being changed to accomodate supporting spring transactions; usually during
setup)
